Ruth Monthore is a Spanish artist living and working in Madrid.

Her work revolves around the idea of change and continuous transformation. She uses preserved plants in her pieces to explore the human urge to pause or control change—while nature gently reminds us that nothing is ever truly still.

About

Ruth Monthore was born in Madrid in 1983. As a young child, she moved with her family to Guadalajara, Mexico, where her journey into the world of art began. She experimented with oil and acrylic paints, but it was with soft pastels that she found her voice. By the age of 14, she was already selling her first pieces.

As adulthood approached, Ruth returned to Spain and, for a time, stepped away from artistic creation. In her late twenties, she moved to England, where a deep connection with gardens and the natural world began to take root. This passion eventually led her to earn a Master’s degree in Landscape from the International University of Valencia (VIU).

Now based in Madrid, Ruth merges her love of nature with her artistic practice. Her work is a response to the constant motion of life—the rhythms we try to pause or control, and the quiet insistence of nature that everything keeps evolving. By combining organic materials like preserved plants with canvas, she explores the delicate tension between stillness and transformation.
